Four teams took to the arena for the closing weekend of the Winter League, playing for the coveted Pig Trophy. On Saturday Druids Lodge beat Xanthos and Black Aces beat Abicare, securing themselves spots in the final.
First on the Sunday was the rather soggy subsidiary final between Xanthos and Abicare. A fairly even first half was followed by a strong second half for Xanthos with some accurate hitting and well organised defence. The score at the final bell was Xanthos 13 – 9 to Abicare.
Druids Lodge took on league winners and undefeated Black Aces in the final. Mercifully the rain had eased and this was a fast game with some brilliant team play from Black Aces. Druids had a strong second chukka but were unable to pin down the Watson brothers in the second half, Black Aces coming home the winners 13 goals to 6.
