Avanti stormed through to the finals of the 4 goal June Trophy with a resounding 10-4 victory over opponents, LineUp Polo, in Saturday’s semi final. A closer semi between Coombe Place and Dragonfly saw Coombe just make it through with a 7-6 win. Dragonfly Polo and LineUp Polo seemed well matched in the subsidiary final with only a goal between them in the first half. Dragonfly edged ahead in chukka three and the score at the bell was Dragonfly 7 – LineUp Polo 5.
Coombe Place were first to make their mark on the scoreboard in the final with a goal from Mark Deacon who is having a good season so far. This was answered with a goal from Brook Bishop for Avanti and the first half continued in this style with teams matching each other goal for goal, 3 all at halftime. Chukka three was a defensive chukka with no balls making it between the goal posts, a final goal in chukka four for Eden Ormerod, subbing in for Harold Hodges who sustained an injury, secured a narrow 4 – 3 win for Coombe Place.
