Druids Lodge victorious in the Druids Lodge Rose Bowl (VL)

Four teams entered the 4 goal Victor Ludorum, The Druids Rose Bowl. The first semi final was between Dragonfly x The Marque and Timb Ply. This was a very close match with teams tied four all with 30 seconds to go. A late goal from Lolly Stanhope-White secured Dragonfly x The Marque a space in the final. The second semi-final, Canonbury vs. Druids Lodge, saw Druids Lodge sail into the final with a score of 7-4.

Timb Ply took on Canonbury in the subsidiary final first on Sunday morning, Roddy Stanning subbing in for an injured Harold Hodges. A competitive match with strong defence from both teams led to a low scoring start. Timb Ply edged ahead in the second chukka with a series of goals from 2 goaler Will Padden, the score 4-1 at half time. A goal in the third chukka from Canonbury’s Stevie McCraith brought them back into the game but Ben Malasomma slotted another one between the posts for Timb Ply to secure victory 5-2.

 

Dragonfly x The Marque came up against a strong Druids Lodge team in the final, goals flying between the posts from the moment the ball was thrown in. The score 3-2 to Druids Lodge at half time. Dragonfly x The Marque moved into the lead in chukka 3, answering goals from Druids Lodge’s Ormerod and Stanning had the scores tied at 5 all as they entered the last. Everything in chukka 4 went the way of Druids Lodge and the score at the final bell was a 7-5 victory for them.
