The first match of our Picnic Polo event was the Sassoon Cup, contested between the RAF and the Army Polo Team.
The Army Polo Team were first off the mark, with goals from Maj Mossy Hamilton and Lt Col Barney Jacques-Grey. Maj Will Mawby extended the Army’s lead with another two goals in the second chukka which were shortly followed by a goal from Fg Off Mimi Figgins for the RAF, to leave the Army in front by 4 goals to 1 at half time.
Lt Col Lucy Anderson started the second half with another goal for the Army Polo Team, before Sqn Ldr Georgie Harwood scored for the RAF. However the Army managed to hold on to their lead with another two goals from Maj Mossy Hamilton to secure the Army Polo Team as winners of the Sassoon Cup.
Mossy Hamilton was awarded MVP, while BPP was awarded to Botinera, owned by Dorset Polo Club, and played by Mossy Hamilton
